Shine - This logo has a bespoke quality to it that is very appealing, it is complex and detailed, and some could get lost in sizing, but it has a lot of impact, and by incorporating the shine name into the middle of the chandelier like form, it brings together a modern look with a more traditional one. This style of using more fancy shapes and combining with the modern works well.

Shine Logo
Shine - This logo has a bespoke quality to it that is very appealing, it is complex and detailed, and some could get lost in sizing, but it has a lot of impact, and by incorporating the shine name into the middle of the chandelier like form, it brings together a modern look with a more traditional one. This style of using more fancy shapes and combining with the modern works well.
Logos - girl
Logo designs centring on a teen girl style approach.
Yunohac - has a simple almost cutesy cartoon look, the colours are colourful without being overwhelming and the typeface is sans-serif and has illusions to handwritten type. When aiming at a younger teen audience people often identify with characters that are more relatable than symbols.
gel's kitchen - again use of pastel colours to give a overall feel. The logo has a lot of detail but its quirky and fun. Again the type is slightly hand written. Hand written can often give something a more creative "girlish" touch to a logo, especially when used with other elements.
Mary and Andy - two people kissing, evoking a almost Parisian style and love, the whole thing wrapped up in a heart. Again a almost handwritten typeface. The female face is strange but this adds character to the image.
Jason Hill - Pictograms
Rodrigo Müller - Pictograms
Clean and simple pictograms by Rodrigo Muller that get across the point of the image with minimal identifiers. This type of work is something i need to look at for the next part of the charity brief, as i will be creating boards with information to teach people in ELDC's. Getting across information easily and simply will be the key to this brief.
The iphone - takes the simple lines that are easily recognisable as the iphone and removes all else. It says iphone with only the most simple of lines at a single weight.
Bluetooth - simple and effective, the tooth shape is recognisable to anyone, and then keying into the colour gives you the result.
Handwritten logos
A collection of hand drawn almost callagraphic logo designs. When done well they give a humanity to a logo, and often a touch of class and pride. They flow well, and have a character of their own.
Seuda Jewelry - The Curling S letterform gives the logo some flair, the whole thing looks almost signature like in its flow, The contrast between the serif letterforms of the jewelry and the flowing script works well together. The S hints at a necklace which reinforces the jewelry brand while doing it subtly enough that it stays classy.
est. - I really like the flow on this logo, it stays easy to read, but has a clean look thats very well balanced. It would work on any surface.
Giulianni ristorante - flowing and rustic, looks handmade but with care, a good reflection for a Italian restaurant. I would say that the ristorante works nicely but maybe slightly illegable at a smaller size, it also seems slightly detached from the Guilianni. The crimson backdrop adds to the classy overall look of the logo.
Shiraz wine logo - hand drawn then scanned into illustrator. It flows well and works with the balance of the loops of the S and the Z. It still maintains legibility.

WOLDA - worldwide logo design annual

http://www.wolda.org/
What is Wolda?
Built on the success of Eulda, the European Logo Design Annual (which has replaced), Wolda is the high-profile graphic design award scheme that rewards the best logos and trademarks designed throughout the world. The winners are selected by an international three-tier jury consisting of 10 top design professionals, 10 marketing managers from major international clients and finally 10 members of the public (provided respectively by the worldwide organizations Icograda, Aquent and Consumers International).
This is an excellent source of inspiration for logos as well as a competition for some of the best designed logos in the world.
The Logo mix

Collection of more inspirational logos in one site.
Hello LED logo - This logo caught my eye with again exploiting letterforms to create a solid logo, the LED letters take on multiple forms in this logo, of a LED light itself, of a smiling face and of the letters LED. Bringing all these things together in one simple image is a great way of refining down multiple ideas into one image. The lettering as well works in a clear sans-serif that adds to the friendliness of the company, and the Hello in capital and lowercase gives it a friendly greeting feel. The glow behind the logo adds to the LED effect, but may be hard to reproduce on some different stocks, and use of colour with the logo would have to be a carefully considered thing.
WS Logos
http://www.wslogos.com/ a part of WSblogz, a web design magazine, showcasing more great logos.
Featured by http://brand-berry.ru/ are some colourful logos. This seems to be a recent trend of using gradient heavy, colourful logos. The have strong impact on a white page but i feel they loose something when applied to other types of stock, they are complicated and detail may be lost when seen in a smaller setting. They cost of printing such logos would be high, and would have to be a big decision on the part of the company to print in full colour. Often this type of design is better for more upmarket companies with money to impress. They are often overworked for no reason and they are colourful "for the sake of it" and not for a strong design reason. I feel a more minimal approach may work better and have more impact, as well as having more applications across a variety of media.

Logo - CC breast cancer identity. Interview with the designer -
Q:Where did the idea for this logo come from?
The concept of this logo was built based on the aim of warning about breast cancer and use as their symbol the pink ribbon, which is a symbol of awareness of breast cancer. Create a monogram with the two C’s initial of the professional name, like a pink ribbon concept.
Q:What application did you use to design this logo? E.g., Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4.
Q:What was your design process for this logo? I.e., Did you start out with pen and paper then move to the computer?
I’d start with pen sketches for build the main logo concept, and after completing the execution in illustrator. This logo has a very circular grid, so after the execution was necessary to refine curves, create a grid of ellipses.
Q:What font(s) were used in the logo?
Champagne & Limousines. See the link bellow too check the kerning study and the modifications about the type.
Q:How did you choose the color scheme for the logo?
The color scheme attached the logo concept, so the ‘pink’ of the symbol, blend with the violet, and the neutral color used is a ‘skin’ color, cause the majority of the clients and victms of breast cancer is women. Then the color solution is required delicate and feminine.
Q:Do you have any sketches of the logo in the early stages?
[Early Sketch of CC - Breast Cancer Identity]
Q:How long did it take to complete the logo?
More sketches images and information about the logo process on Behance Network, follow the link bellow :)
CC Breast Cancer Identity Process and Design Process
Q:What do you feel was your biggest challenge in designing the logo?
Use a overused symbol, like the ribbon as a creative way. The monogram with CC without making the curves of C’s looks like boobies and become too vulgar, was also a big challenge. Combine these two concepts was undoubtedly a major challenge in implementing this logo.
Q:Now that the logo is finished, is there anything you would change about it?
Its a bit hard to take the perfect balance of the mark, maybe this will be the unique change, if i come to make some change.
Logo from Dreams
www.logofromdreams.com
This site picks one logo every day to be featured on the site, it also picks a logo of the month and a logo of the year. It is a good repository of truely good logo design, picked by designers in the field today.
Logo here was a logo of the month. This logo was designed by www.richardbaird.co.uk . For a design lead construction company. I like the use of colour in this logo, it is striking and works well as an abstract shape or tyrell knot while still allowing for building elements within it. I like the abstraction of a object to make a logo, while still being able to see the source of the design, it takes the feel of a building then takes it new places.
Logo moose
www.logomoose.com
Another logo design inspiration compilation site, this takes the best logos from many different designers and showcases them for inspiration.
Families logo
This logo by Herb Lubalin uses the letterforms in the word to get across a point, adding weight to the "families" word, while transforming a word into a logo thats recognisable and gets across the point of the company. Although the letters are transformed, the logo is still easily legible and easy to read.
Logo Faves
http://logofaves.com/
Logo faves is a good source of logo design that scans through designer portfolio and posts the best logos on the site. It works well to bring different cutting edge logo design together in one place for inspiration.
These are two logos that caught my eye recently.
The human logo is bold helvetica, but with execellent use of the negative space, a sperm has been added to the a-n. Its clean yet slightly humourous to look at, and is memorable, it is clever while keeping things simple and clean, and would work in any colour composition.
The big shift logo was noted because it reflects a small trend ive seen with a few logos in which the colour is shifted like a 3d effect to give the logo a shifting feel, it doesnt quite sit right with the eye, but this makes it more memorable. It obviously depends on being full colour, but its a creative effect that used in the right place can make a logo seem different from the norm. I think the kerning of the big could be slightly smaller but it does allow the big to have its own space without being drowned out by the bold shift. The choice to have the big small and the shift big is also playful and the reverse of the norm.
Radioscope Networks
branding and logo for radioscope networks. I like the overall branding on this stationary and logo. Use of stock that has different colours front and back give a strong look to the brand, though the cost would definitely be a factor. This is also reflected in the business cards with a front/back setup that mirrors whats done on the paper stock. I would say the logo is the weakest part of the whole brand. The logo doesnt work well on its own, and looks a little like a space invader, though i do like the negative down arrow that gives the logo some dynamism.
Denis Olenik - Avivo
http://www.behance.net/maximalist - Denis Olenik
Some lovely modern work by Denis Olenik. He is an independent brand developer based in Belarus. Avivo is a interaction based IT company. It is good to see a brand developers methods, especially one so on top of his game is Denis Olenik. He has a clean yet geometric take on logo design, using more gradients and colours than others, a shift in the printing industry means more colours for less and you can find a lot more modern companies creating design that is more colourful well still maintaining a professional quality overall.
The avivo design has a suitable slightly futuristic vibe, which goes well with a company thats looking to the future. The type is a crafted sans-serif with smooth lines, that give it an almost alien aspect but still a lot of clarity to read. The logo looks clean but it is slightly non-discript and it is hard to fathom what the company is based in from looking at the logo. But with large companies that often reach into several different areas a logo that stands alone may often be preferable.
SEA design Logos - Beyon

www.seadesign.co.uk
Sea design is a uk based design company. I was struck by the beyon logo and brand development for a upmarket office furniture company. The logo is a simple "b" but reflects a chairlike shape, as well as having a reasonbly modern feel to it, as well as reflecting a long tradition of furniture design. The application of the logo across different media is something i am a fan of. It has used simple coloured stock with embossing and foil to create a smart minimalist look. It keeps it looking professional, while uniting the whole brand in simplicity. A lot of modern design is moving towards this simple yet professional approach that gets across the right feel with the minimal amount of design elements.
Ctrl-Alt-Shift
Ctrl+Alt+Shift is a charity aimed at younger people to get people to interact with causes. The logo and name itself, play on the keyboard shortcuts on computers as well as the shortened names they are refered to on the keys. This is reflected in the logo as it uses the same bold sans-serif typeface that would appear on a computer screen, but the kerning is adjusted to bring the whole thing into a more logo shaped letterform instead of a group of text. I would say the logo is slightly misleading as it has so many references to computers but nothing but an slightly obscure charitable message that isnt at all obvious unless you know what the charity is about already. It does itself no favours in displaying what the charity is about, and to the layperson they may think it is something to do with computers.
oxfam logo
The oxfam logo is one of the most recognisable charity logos, as well as the trademark green colour for oxfam. The logo itself seems to be a combination of O and X letters for the OXfam. The letters make up a person as well as the shape of a ribbon, a common theme for a charity, showing the humanitarian aspect. The typeface is a simple bold sans-serif typeface, easy to read from long distances, as well as being clean and to the point. The whole logo feels friendly but serious. Its clear without being over the top with unneeded design elements.
Boma fund logo
Boma fund logo. This is a logo for a charty that creates support programs to better the lives of tribesmen in kenya. I think this logo is striking at first look. It is memorable and has a air of respectability about it. The colour scheme works well with black being used to silhouette the figures and tree in the image. The tree works well to instantly remind of Africa, and the people give a feel to the people the charity is helping. I would say this logo may start to break down when viewed in small sizes, and the printing of the "THE" and the "FUND" may become lost at a smaller size.
Chariad Logo
Chariad logo. This logo is in my opinion reasonably weak. The logo imagery is of a figure, but is misshapen for no real reason. The text is in need of some kerning. The choice of typeface for the sub-title seems weak and unreflective of the charities aims. The red top of the I has no reason to be a different colour, it signifies nothing. The image is located off-centre and there doesnt seem to be enough thought put into the whole thing.
Brainstorm 9 logo process
http://abduzeedo.com/brainstorm-9-logo-process
Execellent logo process breakdown for the brainstorn 9 logo. Its good to see the breakdown of someone elses design process and it reinforces what ive learnt on the course. The finished logo has good impact with the capital letters and the symbolised 9, the use of sans-serif typeface gives it a modern feeling. I feel the crushing together of the brain gives the logo a wierd weight to the front of the logo.
