Moxie Sozo

http://www.moxiesozo.com/index.php?t=feature&id=36&type=packaging

lovely feminine design by Moxie Sozo.

"Nuun is the leading manufacturer of electrolyte sports drink tablets. After establishing a strong reputation with endurance athletes, the company hired Moxie Sozo to launch a new product targeting the health-conscious women’s lifestyle market. The agency, through research and focus groups, identified competitive challenges and opportunities for the new brand. Using a graphic architecture centered around a dynamic female form, contemporary styling and a fresh color scheme, ‘U’ capitalized on key emotional drivers of the target audience, while maintaining taste appeal and a strong shelf presence. The packaging has won several awards, been featured in numerous books and received praise for its effectiveness."

Horizon Fire/Paul Tebbott

Paul Tebbott is a self taught graphic designer. I love the retro-futuristic vibe of these. The overall treatment of the print and the colours used gives it a warm feel that really evokes a retro-modern feel. The elements of the image have been broken down so only what is nessecery is shown, and the composition of the pieces are clean and inviting.

Rodrigo Müller - Pictograms

Clean and simple pictograms by Rodrigo Muller that get across the point of the image with minimal identifiers. This type of work is something i need to look at for the next part of the charity brief, as i will be creating boards with information to teach people in ELDC's. Getting across information easily and simply will be the key to this brief.

The iphone - takes the simple lines that are easily recognisable as the iphone and removes all else. It says iphone with only the most simple of lines at a single weight.

Bluetooth - simple and effective, the tooth shape is recognisable to anyone, and then keying into the colour gives you the result.

Ikea - Parisian subway campaign

Innovative design/concept by ikea on the Paris subway system by putting the new product line in the subway so people waiting for the train can sit on them. This was a counter to the image that ikea furniture is cheap and wears out easier. The design of the posters behind the furniture still keeps the simple ikea design style and relates to ikea so the idea sells itself. It also gives the imagery of sitting in a living room and is a clever concept. It creates a talking point and i think this campaign will be very effective.

Pentagram

Pentagram is one of the biggest and well known design agencies in the world.

Some of the projects that really caught my eye are;

AkzoNobel - this is a visual identity for a leading manufacturer of paints. The mixture of clean black and white photography, with bold marks of gradiented colour make an excellent contrast with each other. It brings out the theme across the branding of "seeing the world in full colour". The sans-serif typeface cuts through the colour in negative in some parts, in others it has a gradient fill. I like the balance of greyscale to colour. The colour is used just enough to stand out, and each whole piece is well balanced.

Saks Fifth Avenue - cutting up an image to create bold and interesting bags. The black on white keeps it simple counteracting the slight messiness of the overall design. By taking letterforms and cropping and mixing them, the letterforms speak of elegance while the composition keeps a modern feel. The type of bag used is a cubelike shape and plays well with the square cuts of the images of the bag itself.

Radioscope Networks

branding and logo for radioscope networks. I like the overall branding on this stationary and logo. Use of stock that has different colours front and back give a strong look to the brand, though the cost would definitely be a factor. This is also reflected in the business cards with a front/back setup that mirrors whats done on the paper stock. I would say the logo is the weakest part of the whole brand. The logo doesnt work well on its own, and looks a little like a space invader, though i do like the negative down arrow that gives the logo some dynamism.
